Long Island Center for Recovery

Family
The goal of the Long Island Center for Recovery (LICR) outpatient program is to provide affordable, professional substance abuse treatment services to:

  • Those individuals who need continuing care after discharge from a residential programs
  • Those individuals who are appropriate for a less intense level of care

LICR outpatient program will provide treatment services that reflect the highest standards of substance abuse treatment by employing only qualified and experienced practitioners. Supervisors, counselors, and staff members will make the provision of services the number one focus of their function within the organization. The treatment environment will be safe, accessible, efficient, and orderly in accordance with LICR Environment of Care Management System.

No one seeking services at LICR will be denied treatment due to sex, race, religious affiliation, or handicap. Services will be provided to appropriate individuals in Suffolk County, particularly the eastern part of the county, but not excluding individuals willing and committed to travel from greater distances for treatment.

The program will serve individuals more than 16 years of age who are assessed as appropriate for outpatient substance abuse treatment.

Screening Process
All applicants will be initially assessed for appropriateness of admission by the qualified admission staff supervised by the Medical Director and Program Director. Applicants who do not meet the admissions criteria will be referred for appropriate services as indicated. If assessed as possibly appropriate for admission into the program, the prospective client will have a face-to-face interview with a qualified member of the clinical and medical departments. If it is determined that the individual is inappropriate and needs a more intense or alternative treatment setting, an appropriate referral will be made.

Long Island Center for Recovery uses the criteria established by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) to evaluate stage of addiction, physical complications, legal issues, family issues, and issues that contribute to dysfunctionality. Only individuals found to have a problem of substance abuse or dependence will be considered appropriate for treatment at LICR outpatient program.

If it is determined that the prospective client is in need of acute medical or psychological attention, the medical staff will make the appropriate referral. LICR will have Qualified Service Agreements with hospitals and practitioners for alternate levels of care.
